KAWASAKI Z 1000, year 1978
After seeing our well-known “Black Betty”, a customer from the USA contacted us to build a complete custom 1978 Kawasaki Z1000 — exactly to his specifications.
His request:
A supercharged engine focused on strong torque and long-term reliability rather than maximum peak horsepower.
This project became a real challenge for us, as it was the very first time we used the brand-new KMS MA-5 ECU. All ignition and fuel injection settings had to be developed completely from scratch. Countless hours of dyno testing, road testing and fine tuning later, the effort was absolutely worth it.
The result:
✔ approx. 120 hp
✔ approx. 110 Nm torque already at 5,500 rpm
✔ smooth power delivery and excellent rideability
